This song was written by Tegan.
She came up with it after being told to write a love song, which she had never done before.
Her aim was to create a song that would be played in romantic situations like a wedding.
In order to get inspiration for this song, she listened to a list of the top 100 love songs
and wrote down what those songs said about love, which eventually became the lyrics
to Love They Say. When the band recorded this track in the studio, the movies Lost Boys and 2001: A Space Odyssey were playing in the background on mute
and also influenced the sound of the song.
