Ike's Top List of 2008 events and things.
There isn't going to be an ordered list of albums on here. But I will tell you of things that happened. There aren't necessarily ten items.
1. Getting a new computer. There are some things I stopped doing when I got a new computer. One thing was doing *******s. I haven't stopped music downloads altogether. Just changed my habits for the most part. More downloading of songs from the Buzz Tracker scene, less downloading of songs from major label artists.
2. The computer called Shadrach 2 crashing. One day, the power supply failed and I could not turn it on whatever I did. I was without the internet for a number of days until my parents got a new computer. It inspired me to write a song called "Eulogy Square Root For Shadrach Two." The song structure and instrumentation are based off of Dream's song "This Is Me." Not the Japanese girl band named Dream or one of the Eurpoean rock bands. The American girl band signed to P. Diddy/Sean Combs' Bad Boy label.
3. The end of Ike Bart Is House. It left a hole in my weekly routine that I wish were replaced solely with composing music. I still have yet to release Episode 32, but it doesn't mean I've forgotten about it. I just need to finish a bunch of songs.
4. The 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Here is what I remember most about the olympics. Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and the American beach volleyball teams. Inspired a song called "Olypmic Oligarchs" and a series of remixes, which I haven't gotten around to composing.
5. Working in the 2008 American presidential election. I voted before November 4th, and I didn't need an excuse since Ohio allowed anyone to vote early, including election workers. It payed off a month's worth of bills. Just need to find a job that employs more than two days a year.
6. Joe Satriani suing Coldplay. I've come to the conclusion that Satriani got his ideas from another song. It inspired me to start a song with a chord progression that can be played with "Viva La Vida" and "If I Could Fly." Now to analyze the songs I mentioned plus songs by Alizee, Creaky Boards, Gunther, Cat Stevens and Babycheeks.
7. Learning doubles mode on Dance Dance Revolution. I started playing doubles on DDR as soon as my brother left his Cobalt Flux dance pad at home when he moved to the dorms. At first it was difficult to do anything past Light/Basic mode or four feet. But I kept on playing and now I can score a AA consistantly on songs up to eight feet of difficulty. I still dislike DDR Extreme's scoring system which requires you to get a full combo in order to score a AA along with a certain percentage of dance points. Basically anything over 8.7 million on Extreme and Extreme 2, but not a AA would score a AA in SuperNova. Who needs a doubles bar when you got two Cobalt Flux dance pads and some tape to keep the pads from flying apart?
Just before I leave on vacation for the remainder of 2008, I shall post an unordered list of albums released in 2008, plus any events or things I forgot.
