In recent years, it seems that the dancing pop superstar has been reduced to a walking pop superstar, a star who doesn't dance but rather, walks around the stage while singing.

Prime examples include Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Even Britney and Christina, both dancing popstars in their early years, have become walking superstars.

Is it not cool to dance and sing at the same time anymore (like Janet, Paula and Madonna did eons ago)?

There are two ladies that still do this... one that's exceptional and one that at least puts in the effort.

OH yeah. Gaga dances. Her and Bey are the only ones that actually put effort into a performance.

I actually prefer when pop stars DON"T dance (in videos), unless they're truly offering something unique a la Ciara and Chris Brown.

Otherwise, the dancing just sucks up what could otherwise be stimulating visuals. My opinion.

I've thought about that. I'm no Britney fan but at least she offered SOMETHING outside of her hits. What do today's popstars offer? What do Katy, Rihanna, Ke$ha et al. really contribute other than look pretty while walking up and down the stage singing songs crafted by hitmakers? Zero effort. The mentality seems to be: why should I bother, my songs will still do well anyway.

Some pop stars do try. Hilary Duff danced during the Dignity era, Katy Perry I believe dances, Britney dances still, and idk what Christina does. But thats all I can think of.

Yeah, dancing doesn't seem to be as important--or as significant--as it once was. But if you go to a Madonna or Janet concert you'll still get lots of choreography, so they haven't wavered.

A lot of men are still dancing. Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Usher, Justin Timberlake, etc. But on the female side we've got Beyoncé, we've got Gaga and Britney trying, Ciara who is dancing but not selling, and outliers like Shakira.

I stan for Beyonce so I still get spoiled by perfection.

Katy dances? I did not know that. And Gaga is a pretty good dancer. She ain't the best but she seems like a "dancer" to me.

I guess that's different - you can't go to a Madonna and Janet concert and not get any choreography...

Well I've only seen her dance in California Girls and it was okay, Gaga's is okay too pretty basic, but they sing live so it's cool.
