I recently joined Last.fm and so I thought it would be fun to keep track of my listening tendencies in the form of a weekly chart.

My Charts:

• The Hot 10 = my weekly top 10 tracks by play count
• The Billboard 10 = my weekly top 10 albums by play count
• The Artist 10 = my weekly top 10 artists by play count

Methodology:

• Plays for deluxe and non-deluxe editions of albums are combined.
• Albums that have not yet been released can chart if singles confirmed to be on the album get sufficient plays.
• Stand-alone singles, unattached to any album, cannot chart on the Billboard 10.

Notes:

• The chart week ends on a Saturday at around midday AEST on average.
• Chart rules and methodology will likely change and evolve with time, just like they do for official charts.

It was a very tight race for number 1 on the Artist 10 this week. Taylor Swift managed to claim the number 1 position, despite strong competition from Halsey. But Halsey definitely has a lot to be proud of this week: a number 1 album on the Billboard 10 (‘Badlands’), 4 singles charting in the Hot 10, and a very respectable number-2 debut on the Artist 10. Ellie Goulding tops the Hot 10 with her Max Martin-produced lead single ‘On My Mind’.

With the release of ‘Honeymoon’, Lana Del Rey dominated the charts this week. She tops the Artist 10 by over 100 plays, pushing Taylor Swift to number 2. Del Rey’s album bows at number 1 on the Billboard 10, while Halsey’s ‘Badlands’ drops out after claiming the top position last week. Swift’s ‘1989’ advances to the number 2 position, while Ryan Adam’s cover album of ‘1989’ debuts at number 4. Del Rey claims the Hot 10’s top spot with ‘Art Deco’, beating out Swift’s ‘Style’ by 17 plays. Ellie Goulding’s ‘On My Own’ falls from the top spot to number 10.

It was a close race for the top position on the Hot 100 this week, with Kendrick Lamar narrowly beating out Fetty Wap’s ‘679’ to claim the top position with his song ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’. ‘Pools’ is the lowest-scoring number 1 that we’ve had so far on this chart. Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘E•MO•TION’ unexpectedly tops the Billboard 10 this week, boasting more plays than the number 2 and 3 albums combined - Nicki Minaj’s ‘The Pinkprint’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’. Fetty Wap’s self-titled debut roars in at number 4. Carly Rae Jepsen also snatches the top spot on the Artist 10, beating out Swift by 19 plays.

Taylor Swift's domination of the charts this week is wholly clear. Swift tops the Artist 10 with 203 plays, more than the rest of the top 10 combined. Her album '1989' tops the Billboard 10, while 'Revival' by her bestie Selena Gomez claims the number 2 spot. Expect 'Revival' and its tracks to feature strongly in next week's charts. Gomez tops the Hot 10 with the Max Martin-produced 'Hands to Myself', while Taylor Swift boasts a total of 6 entries on this week's Hot 10.
