It's been a while since my All-Time Global Album Longevity thread that ranked artists based on the time they spent in album top 20s around the world.
I thought it would be fun to do an update. I'm limiting it to the past 20 years (1996-2015) to focus more on modern artists, and I'm also using a different point system to mix up the results a bit.
A total of 19 countries were analyzed in this study. To reduce Europe's importance, some countries were added together. Each column in the result table has the same weight.
US = United States
UK = United Kingdom
AU = Australia (0.8) / New Zealand (0.2)
CA = Canada
DE = Germany
FR = France (0.9) / Wallonia (0.1)
IT = Italy
IB = Iberia: Spain (0.8) / Portugal (0.2)
NL = Netherlands (0.8) / Flanders (0.2)
CH = Switzerland (0.5) / Austria (0.5)
SD = Scandinavia: Sweden (0.3) / Norway (0.3) / Denmark (0.2) / Finland (0.2)
JP = Japan
The point system is fairly simple: a week at #1 = 2.0, a week at #2 = 1.9, ..., a week at #20 = 0.1
Points in the table are rounded. A 0 means it is more than 0 but less than 0.5. An X means chart data was unavailable for that year in that country.
Local artists have been excluded: an artist needs to have charted in three or more territories.
Japan's charts have a few gaps, and all the data is in katakana so it was difficult to match it with the rest. Japanese data might be missing for lower ranking artists. I can provide it upon request.
All of the results are generated by a script. If you notice data is missing, tell me and I'll try to fix it right away.
I can post the rank and result table of artists who are not in the top 100 upon request.
