i think cultural impact usually comes after an artist has attained high record sales anyway, they usually come hand in hand

They both related, i mean.... if you can't sell albums it's unlikely to have a big impact...

Cultural impact usually leads to record sales and high record sales usually lead to cultural impact...for some people.

I think some artists at the moment like Lil Wayne and Drake are having a lot of cultural impact, but their sales aren't THAT high. Their albums sell massively though, but they don't have amazing Hot 100 success.

But I think the artists with cultural impact will be remembered more, because they affect people's lives. Artists like Taio Cruz and Flo Rida have loads of massive hits, but not much cultural impact.

I think both are important. What's the point if you sell 10 million albums if 10 years later no one remembers you/uses you.
