The song has received generally mixed to negative reviews from critics. Bill Lamb from About.com was not impressed with the song, calling it "somewhat disappointing ... 'Rehab' simply sounds too much like "What Goes Around..." Part 2." The song has received further criticism after being compared to Madonna's "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" from her album, Hard Candy.
Entertainment Weekly magazine gave the song a negative review, saying its "a joyless overdose of midtempo melodrama".
Pitchfork Media called it a "slight but solid entry into the rapidly-expanding Timbalake catalog" though considered that "it's tough not to speculate how it might sound if Timberlake sang the whole thing rather than just the backing vocals. His falsetto is perfectly equipped to convey the track's plaintive, regretful sentiment. Rihanna, meanwhile...not so much".
On a positive review, it was an Allmusic track pick.
"Rehab" is such a good song. I don't understand the negative feedback.
I agree, Rehab is a really great song, those nagtive reviews are not justified.
Esp' compared to some of her singles, Rehab isn't the wrost, that's for sure.

Totally agreed. And I actually think Rehab is better than WGA.
Rehab isn't as great as you all are saying IMO. It gets boring really fast, so it was a horrible single choice after it's been out for a year and a half!
I never like WGA that much and I actually love Rehab.
But who cares what reviews say, it's doing great on radios and downloads keep on increasing and that's what really important.
