Before January, it was because I wasn't being exposed to the right kind of music [I basically assumed everything sounded like Gangnam Style] and didn't see myself being able to enjoy music in another language [excluding Spanish]. There were some songs I thought were cool but I wasn't really listening with an open mind to give it a fair shot. I was so wrong. I found this video and it changed my life:
Long answer: I used to be a massive k-pop stan (like I could name every person in like GG or Super Junior, etc, or someshit, my room was covered in posters, I'd always be listening to it, I even went to Sydney for the concert thing they had several years ago), eventually the groups I stanned for started being **** (mostly BIGBANG around Alive I thought they looked ugly and the music ****, who were probably my bias) and there were some many groups it's hard to go through so much **** to find something good again
TDLR: Lost faith in faves and too much k-pop out there
Shinee, f(x) and some others have jams I still like though

I don't understand what they're saying because I don't speak the language although they have cute music videos and a nice tune most of the time.
The lyrics are beautifully written and composed(when it comes to certain artists like AKMU or IU, real Korean artists that are given creative freedom).
One of AKMU's generic songs lyrics:
Quote:
Town munchkins get along soundly,
and the older friends next door loafs around
If i suddenly face a cute young man,
I secretly watch his face reflected on sparkling ripples
Behind the landmark tree thicker than arms length
Taking a carefree walk slong the flower river
Beautiful Korea
It's such a lovely town
That beauty is my lover
I want to make her my wife
I want to dive and splash in your dimples
Though i'm poor, i have always been talented with writing
Just wait and watch
I will impress you after mastering the language, starting fromganada
I will show you the penmanship of Han Seok Bong
And the power of hanguel
You've already fallen for me halfway
I'll arrange a house, hey toad, give me a new house
You and I, slowly, by slowly,
Living happily, the thought of it somehow excites me

Well that's what happens when you Stan artists who are under companies that give them little to no creative control
