It's that time of year where we reflect on everything that has happened over the course of the past 11 months and some-odd days. Some of these memories we look at with fondness, and others... Not so much. That being said, with this showcase, I would like to honor what was great, and what was maybe not so great, about 2012.

100 Representative Songs of 2012: Here I will name songs according to many different criteria. There will be some songs in here that may not have been to my personal taste, but simply cannot skip over, due to their presence within the year, both within my life and the lives of many others. (10 Days)

40 Top Artists of 2012: In this portion, I will take a look at achievement and overall presence in 2012. (4 Days)

Top Ten Music Videos of 2012: Pretty self-explanatory. Here I will list a compilation of my ten favorite music videos released this year. (1 Day)

10 Discoveries Of 2012: A music aficionado should always be searching for new music. With this section, I will name ten artists that I discovered throughout the year that were introduced to me through various means, such as Spotify, last.fm recommendations, and other platforms. These artists can either be rising stars or veteran acts that I had not previously been exposed to. (1 Day)

Twenty Treasured Tunes: This is a list of some of my favorite songs from the past year that were released in the past year. Whereas, the other list may have contained songs from previous years that did not catch on until 2012, THIS will be a definitive look at songs of this year, no matter how big they ever were. (4 Days)

Disclaimer: There are no loopholes for delayed releases that reached my country late [as foreign smashes always seem to do].

Fifteen Favorite Feuds (And General Meltdowns): 2012 was a year of multiple personal conflicts. Not necessarily for me, but definitely for celebrities both in the real life and the social networking sphere that encompasses all that is Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. This will be a look at some of the most horrifying (and humorous) displays of immaturity and general malcontent from throughout the year. (5 Days)

Pound The Alarm is such a guilty pleasure

This song wasn’t really all that well-known by most here on ATRL, but its presence where I live makes this song worthy for inclusion, I feel. What more can be said about it? Other than the fact that its distinct sense of braggadocio makes it fitting for driving around while you’re in an exceptional mood, it isn’t anything particularly special. Yet it’s also one of the few Southern Rap songs of 2012 worth noting (given that the subgenre isn’t of my particular taste, either, so its inclusion on this list definitely means something).

This song was alright, but I didn’t catch onto it nearly as much as I did with “Motivation” last year. Still, Miss Kelly served up "a nice tray." () As for Wayne’s verse, again, his feature on “Motivation” was better. Doesn’t mean it isn’t good. But as we’ve seen earlier this year, when a pair of artists attempt a spiritual sequel to previous hits, they tend to disappoint.
