Had to drop this now or it wouldn't happen today. So, let's begin!
Top 75 Tracks: Part 1
61. The Civil Wars – Poison & Wine
62. The Naked & Famous – Young Blood
63. Lil’ Wayne f. Drake – She Will
64. Drake f. Nicki Minaj – Make Me Proud
65. Britney Spears – Hold It Against Me
66. David Guetta f. Usher – Without You
67. Paramore – Monster
68. The Decemberists – This Is Why We Fight
69. Radiohead – Lotus Flower
70. Katy Perry – The One That Got Away
71. Rihanna – Cheers (Drink To That)
72. Foster The People – Call It What You Want
73. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Monarchy of Roses
74. Ke$hA – Blow
75. Avicci – Levels
The first set of the 2011 year-end tracks tally is led by The Civil Wars, who were criminally ignored for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy’s. Nonetheless, the haunting and endearing ‘Posion & Wine’ is the first of two tracks for them this year along with a solid showing for their album. Several “one-offs” appear in this one-time only set of 15. Lil’ Wayne, David Guetta, Paramore, Radiohead, Ke$ha, and Avicci all make their contributions. ‘Monster’ is the year’s obligatory Transformers single, although ‘Iridescent’ just missed the cut and again showed how effectively Linkin Park is used in that franchise. A forthcoming dance smash in the U.S. is sure to be witnessed with Avicci, as the rest of the world (as usual) has already embraced the notoriously infectious ‘Levels’. Britney Spears shows up with her first of three, and ‘Criminal’ aside, this was the weaker single she released this year. Still, the futuristic track was one of the few highlights off “Femme Fatale”, which will be Britney’s first album to not make my year-end tally. The Decemberists are on board with their first of two, and will see a respectable showing for their album as well. After landing 3 singles and an album in the top 10 last year, Katy Perry starts yet another banner year with her first of 3. Probably my least favorite single released so far, but still pop sentiment at some of it’s best. Rihanna also placed 3 singles and an album in the top 10 last year, and she’s back with 3 more and yet ANOTHER album this year. This chick doesn’t stop coming does she? She will place her biggest hit EVER much later on the chart. One-upping all of that is Drake, who had 4 tracks and an album on the chart last year, and here he is with the first of three, plus a huge placing for “Take Care” on the way. This year was definitely a highlight for Drizzy. And lastly, Foster The People (1/3) and RHCP (1/2) place near the bottom rungs. Only towards the end of the year did I begin to embrace the infectious “Torches”, and I still remained puzzled at the choice of ‘Monarchy’ as a single off the divided “I’m With You” album. More to come on that later.

Roger!! So happy to see you doing a list this year. It's always one of my favs to look at each year-end season.
As for this first song-set, some really nice selections! I like Wayne/Drake, Drake/Nicki, Decemberists, Radiohead, Rihanna, RHCP. Great variety, in your choices.
Looking forward to the rest!

We've had a very similar music taste this year. "Young Blood" will be in this year Top 20 for sure!

Yet another of my most anticipated year-enders, and I was worried that this one wouldn't get posted. I'm glad to see that I was wrong.
I enjoy most of the songs in this first set (as I expected), but I have to say that, to me, "Monarchy" is the best song on IWY (well, either that or "Brendan's Death Song", depends on the day). It's one of the few that really stood out to me on first listen, and, honestly, it should have been the first single over TAORDM. Oh yeah, I said it.

Great beginning with "Young Blood" and "This Is Why We Fight"!
"Without You" is not my fave from David Guetta this year, but it's still good.
I'll be looking forward to the rest of the list

Merry xmas y'all. Thanks for the kind words. Boxing day we start the top 50 plus albums 20-16!
---------
Top 75 Tracks: Part 2
51. Kanye West f. Rihanna – All Of The Lights
52. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – If I Had A Gun
53. Kanye West & Jay Z – Otis
54. Usher – More (RedOne Remix)
55. Kelly Clarkson – Mr. Know It All
56. Bruno Mars – The Lazy Song
57. Arctic Monkeys – Brick By Brick
58. The Strokes – Under Cover of Darkness
59. The Joy Formidable – Whirring
60. Foster The People – Helena Beat
Kicking off the top 60 is one last track from my #1 album of last year, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’. “All of the Lights” was an absolute riot to hear live on the Watch The Throne tour, with Kanye West absolutely shredding it. The track also serves a nice reminder of Kanye’s capabilities to pump out a high-octane club teack. Not to be outdone, Jay Z shows up as well, albeit with Kanye, with the first of two tracks from The Throne. Although “Otis” is indeed, a fantastic track, it did lose its luster for me pretty fast, only to get picked back up again after I heard it live. Great sample as well, obviously.
On the rock front, Noel Gallagher shows up with his sole representation on the singles chart, and will see a sensational showing for the album. “If I Had A Gun” is a middle of the road type track off the album. Arctic Monkeys had 3 singles on my monthly chart this year, but only the one managed some sort of longevity. Once an absolute staple on my charts with the first two albums, they have left me somewhat bewildered ever since “Crying Lightning”, which I would argue is their last great song. However, I’ll be seeing them open for Black Keys in March, so I hope to hear more of the first 2 albums! The Strokes truly excited me when I heard the single, although I felt the album was nowhere near as consistent even if the critics would disagree. This track is probably their best since “Last Nite”. The Joy Formidable were a sure **** surprise with the soft spoking yet roaring “Whirring” – I haven’t given their album a shot yet though. And Foster The People show up with their MGMT meets Modest Mouse “Helena Beat”, which I thought would be huge for them but really failed to maintain immediacy. This is 2/3 for them, and we won’t see them for a while now.
Lastly, on the pop front, Usher randomly shows up but I had to include it because that RedOne remix was absolute fire and it was great to hear on the weekends. Kelly Clarkson was a nice treat to hear this Fall, because I found that the track sat somewhere nestled between the sensible “Breakaway” and “Because of You” – instead of trying to re-create a “Since U Been Gone” or “My Life Would Suck…”. Unfortunately, the track doesn’t match any of those hits in terms of quality, but it’s still a decent enough tune. And then we’ve got Bruno Mars, with his first of two and he will see an “honorable mention” for his 2010 album, ‘Doo Wops and Hooligans’, which I really got into this year. “The Lazy Song” was just that, easy going, light hearted, and simplistic songwriting at it’s finest.
