It's a great film but I don't think it's among the best ever. It takes itself a bit too seriously at times but its nonetheless an enjoyable piece of work
It was revolutionary, even if some scenes were over the top and camp but maybe the comical aspect was on purpose since irony and sarcasm are part of the film. There wouldn't have been shows like Six Feet Under or Desperate Housewives, destructuring the illusion of the American Dream without this film.
Also, the ending is magnificent and contains the truest words ever uttered in a mainstream Hollywood movie, these past 30 years.
