With $102M, JURASSIC WORLD becomes just the 2nd film to gross over $100M+ in its 2nd weekend. Total is now $398M.

The dinosaurs are still running wild at the nation’s multiplexes as Universal’“Jurassic World” looks poised to dominate the weekend in its second frame with more than $100 million, according to early Friday estimates.
Meanwhile, Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out” is looking likely to finish in the $78 million to $82 million range. The studio, however, is going with a softer estimate of $65 million to $70 million. Disney-Pixar expects the animated pic to gross $29- million to $32 million on Friday.
“Jurassic World” set a U.S. opening weekend record with $208.8 million, then added $87 million in the four weekdays through Thursday to hit $296 million. The dino thriller may even challenge the second weekend record of $103 million set by “The Avengers” in 2012 — and it will easily top the second-best number of $77.7 million racked up last month by “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
“Jurassic World” will cross the $300 million mark Friday in its eighth day. That will break the record for quickest to hit the milestone, previously held by “The Avengers,” which needed nine days in 2012.

Universal critical acclaim, something Jurassic World doesn't have, means way more than debuting at #1

But you're acting like critical acclaim matters in this situation. Unless this Inside Out movie wins an Oscar or any legitimate awards what good is critical acclaim gonna do? Great reviewed films still could end up being forgotton about a year from now. Jurassic World was promoted to be a huge summer blockbuster, not an Oscar worthy masterpiece. It succeeded in its goal.

Hoping Inside Out pulls a shocker and debuts ahead of Jurassic's second weekend, but I doubt it. Jurassic is massive.
It'll be the first Pixar movie to not debut at #1.

Universal ended Disney, Marvel, and Pixar. Never thought I'd see the day. Good to be alive.

Man you pop stans really don't understand the film industry. A #1 debut at the box office means a lot less than a #1 debut on the BB200; it's the actual gross from the opening weekend compared to the standard for the genre that determines whether a film is successful or not, and people don't care about box office positions like they do music charts. Jurassic World has much more universal appeal than Inside Out, an already ambitious film, so obviously it's going to gross more.
Not to mention that an $80 million debut for Pixar is AMAZING. The only Pixar films to gross more than that were Toy Story 3 and Monsters University, both highly anticipated sequels with already dedicated followings.
Inside Out is being hailed as the best Pixar film in a long time, and some are calling it their best film ever. That means a lot more than being #1 when it's already going to be one of their most successful, both critically and commercially, films ever.

The fact that everyone thought Jurassic is going to destroy Inside Out tho, folks @ boxoffice.com said they're afraid Inside Out might earn just $50-$60 million considering the juggernaut that is JW! But then nope, Inside Out is breaking out to $80 million which is SURPRISING since no other original Pixar film (or any original animated film in that matter) has opened that much! Plus that 93 rating on Metacritic is something y'all faves will never get in their career!

I think Inside Out will grab $85 million. It was a great movie! I saw it yesterday. I went to the theater and it was sold out so we had to go to a different one

inside out's amazing reviews and what will be incredible word of mouth will carry it through. either way, it's a triumphant return to form for pixar and, if anything, their first loss at an opening #1 at the box office will further generate support and praise for it as an underdog.
