She doesn't have a stable image & she's forgettable.

Her music is mediocre. She can sing, but that's about it.

This is my opinion, but I think it's the same reason why Mandy Moore wasn't as popular. The late 90s, early 00s saw an oversaturation of teenybopper idols in the market. There was really no place for girls like Jessica when they couldn't really differentiate themselves from superstars like Christina and Britney. In other words, there was nothing about Jessica Simpson that made her any different or special than those two.

her music is mediocre to people. nothing about her stands out. she doesn't have much stage presence.

girl doesn't know how to dance when her competition(britney & xtina) back then working their choreography like madmen.

Another is because of the unforgettable britney vs. xtina stan war before. Nobody wants to talk about jessica simpson back then.
And yeah her singles weren't as exciting and catchy as her competition.

Her music style changes too much and it's never really a natural feel with her. One moment she wants to be a dancefloor diva with A Public Affair and then she wants to be a serious country music star with Do You Know. Both of these albums were huge flops and I have to say that a large part of that is her image and the music not really being good. Jessica is not a bad singer but she needs to stick with ONE path for her music and get a image going where people can take her somewhat seriously.

"I wanna love you forever" and "I think I'm in love with you" are her only interesting ones.

Sounds like she needs to make up her mind

she's a mess when she performs live and she had something going when she had a big hit with With You but then she went and ****ed it all up. And she released a REALLY ****** follow-up album with A Public Affair

She became irrelevant when Newlyweds ended.
