Just because i have included this light skinned black individuals doesnt mean they are not proud of being black but their light skin has given them a privilege in society over dark skinned black people and black people with average skin color.

So the question is, Do black people prefer light skin? do they naturally prefer it? have they been though to prefer it?

Im not american and before i came to the united states i though all black people had the skin tone of beyonce, rihanna, tyra, etc

And give me one semi-intelligent reason why you're on ATRL asking a question about the thoughts of black US population? What kind of legit answer are you going to get from ATRL about the thoughts and preferences of the black US population? None. Is ATRL composed of every black person in America? No. Thus this thread accomplishes nothing. Close it.

Right. Not "better;" it's just a preference.

It's not a "sad" thing. It's a preference. There are different folks who preference lighter and darker skin and folks who really don't care either way.

It's not a problem, let alone a big one.

not only in the USA, baby. In Europe you dont see many interracial couples.. at least in Portugal... For example my family would never accept if I would fall in love with a black guy or something... At least, they're not my taste (thank god or i'd be ****ed up ahahah)...

but of course I dont mind having black friends or something, they're people like me, but for something else, something more... I couldnt be with someone black

It's not really a problem in the west coast of America, it seems to happen more in the south & midwest.

Seriously, anyone who thinks light-skinned = better is ignorant and needs to be checked. It's no different than a Caucasian (or any other race) person thinking their race is better. And I really hate to see black people think this way when they have been treated the same way. There are many beautiful dark-skinned people in this world, and I have seen some atrocious looking light-skinned people. Beauty doesn't come in shades or colors.

I don't mean those who have preference, they are ignorant black people who act like only light skin is beautiful. I know what I talk about and i know what a preference is.

Im black and yes...i do. Im just more attracted to light skinned black people than the really dark ones

There's a difference between preferring a certain shade and automatically thinking that only light or dark is better or one is inferior.

I've also noticed that black men prefer light skin women, most women prefer dark skin men.
