All of the main pop girls have held their positions for several years, the newest member being Taylor around 2012. How come no other new girls have even come close to reaching this level? The last pop girl who experienced seemingly overnight success was Gaga.

The cutest attempts have been from all of the Disney girls, Meghan and Ariana, but even they haven't been able to ever reach main pop girl territory. Why? When will we see a new girl take the spot?

Rihanna wasn't a main pop girl until her third album (some may argue she didn't cement her status until Loud, her fifth).

Rihanna was definitely main by GGGB...which was almost 10 years ago. The point is that the main girls have held their spots since forever and are seemingly untouchable despite the onslaught of new girls.

Most of them have no charisma, real talent, determination or drive in their music.

our pop girls still have so much to offer, they're not going to be replaced just yet.

But in terms of breaking into the main pop girl world within the next decade, it'll most likely be Miley, Ariana, Selena, and I guess Lorde but in a completely different manner.

I also think that one of the reasons for the lack of new pop girls is the back to back slay from the current pop girls. I mean, Beyonce and Taylor simply don't let the others breath.

Rihanna at 17 at least had a top 2 song though...and she still took time to become main. Zara seems likely to disappear in a year or two. No shade

Their music and performance skills are basic. Only Ariana has potential
