The multi-genre assault of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know," featuring Kimbra, rolls on, as the song spends a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 while remaining atop the Alternative Songs chart and conquering a pair of Billboard dance rankings.
"Somebody" leads the Alternative Songs airplay chart for a 10th frame and reaches No. 1 on Dance/Club Play Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay. The song is the first to top all four tallies and just the third shared leader on Alternative Songs and Dance/Club Play Songs, following U2's "Discotheque" (1997) and New Order's "Regret" (1993). While "Somebody" might seem like an odd candidate for club play, considering the original version's sparse, rock-flavored production, the song has won support in dance circles courtesy of remixes by Thin Red Men, Tiesto and others.
Gotye's Smash Hit Almost Didn't Happen
With its continued command on Alternative Songs, "Somebody" passes Everlast's "What It's Like" (nine weeks in 1998-99) as the longest-reigning No. 1 by a soloist in the chart's 23-year history.
"Somebody" sold 348,000 downloads (down 16%) in the April 30-May 6 tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and spends a third week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart. It adds top Airplay Gainer honors on the Hot 100 for a third week, rising 3-2 on the Radio Songs chart with 124 million in all-format audience (up 24%), according to Nielsen BDS. On the On-Demand Songs survey, "Somebody" rules for a fourth week, with 1.4 million on-demand streams (down 2%), according to BDS.
The Hot 100's top three songs remain stationary from last week, with fun.'s "We Are Young," featuring Janelle Monae, holding at No. 2 for a fourth week after logging six weeks atop the Hot 100 and Maroon 5's "Payphone," featuring Wiz Khalifa, remaining at No. 3, where it debuted two weeks ago, for a third week.
New Maroon 5 Album to Be 'Overexposed'
"Young" leads Radio Songs for a fourth frame with 137 million (down less than 1%). On Digital Songs, "Young" holds at No. 4 (187,000, down 10%). On On-Demand Songs, it remains at No. 2 (1.1 million, down 5%).
"Payphone," meanwhile, zooms 19-11 on Radio Songs with a 19% increase to 58 million. Adult radio leads the way, as the song flies 13-9 on Adult Pop Songs, marking the chart's fastest ascent to the top 10 since Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" also needed just three frames to enter the top 10 in February 2009.
"Payphone" holds at No. 2 on Digital Songs, and, with 286,000 (down 13%), it passes a million (1.1) in downloads sold since its release. The track nabs the Hot 100's top Streaming Gainer honor, powered by a 13-4 vault on On-Demand Songs (852,000, up 70%).
Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" pushes 5-4 on the Hot 100, aided by gains in airplay (48 million, up 16%) and on-demand streaming (997,000, up 2%). It remains at its No. 3 peak-to date on Digital Songs (210,000, down 5%).
Flo Rida's "Wild Ones," featuring Sia, reaches the Hot 100's top five in its 18th week, lifting 6-5. Despite dips in sales and streaming, the song rises thanks to a 5-4 advance on Radio Songs (103 million, up 8%).
No new titles enter the Hot 100's top 10. The Wanted's former No. 3-peaking hit "Glad You Came" dips 4-6; Nicki Minaj's "Starships" lifts 8-7; Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" descends 7-8; One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" stays at No. 9; and, Kelly Clarkson's former three-week No. 1 "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" is static at No. 10. With 72,000 downloads sold, the song becomes Clarkson's first to pass 3 million in digital sales.
The Hot 100's top debut belongs to B.o.B's "Both of Us," featuring Taylor Swift, at No. 18. The rap/country collaboration, which arrives at No. 8 on Digital Songs with 143,000 downloads sold, appears on B.o.B's album "Strange Clouds," which debuts this week at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
Rihanna, meanwhile, roars 78-29 on the Hot 100 with the chart's top Digital Gainer, "Where Have You Been." The track re-enters Digital Songs at No. 26 (59,000, up 232%) after she performed it on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" May 5. On Radio Songs, it darts 64-36 (31 million, up 75%).
Check billboard.com tomorrow (May 10), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 and On-Demand Songs in their entirety and Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday.

I don't know... Fun. seems to have it right now, seeing as they've spent ten weeks within the top two already... I have a preference toward STIUTK though and I would love to see it be the top song of the year.
