Discussion: Serious Question, why is Justin Bieber Popular?

Like I get he has tween appeal, not really sure why but he obviously does. I just want to know why we think Justin Bieber with his womanly features, bad attitude and not so manly vocals is a huge success when we have a whole string of artists who deserve success and seemingly are more talented yet they remain in the background.

So what is it that makes Justin Bieber popular? Do you like him? Do you hate him? Do you wish nothing bad on the kid but wish he would fade away already? Do you think he will last?

How many of us have a JB song on our itunes? How many are willing to admit it?

You answered yourself, he is crazed by tweens. And they are a crazy age group that will do anything for there fave. Plus, he has the cuteness to make it.

One Time, Somebody to Love and Eenie Meenie are big hits too.

But I'm wondering how he has sustained the tween market and if he will flop once he moves to rap/hip-hop. Will any proper hip-hop fans ever take him seriously? Is he an idiot to move away from the Jonas Brothers fan base he took over?

It always people like him that appeal to the younger girls, until they grow up and realize that he's really nothing special. I give it two or three years before his popularity diminishes greatly.

He appeals to tween and teen girls. If you're over the age of 14, you won't get it.

And while I'm indifferent to him, I do think he's mediocre and an arrogant little git.

That is subjective. I think he looks incredibly womanly and that is possibly why young girls like him, he appears non-threatening.

He's talented at the guitar and possibly songwriting, even though his songs are EH worthy. That's it. His voice is so bad, and now he wants to be chris brown which makes it worse.
