With first week sales of
1,333,969 copies, AKB48s newly released "Everyday, Kachusha" has officially set the new record for highest first week sales of a physical single. The previous record was established back in 1996, when Mr. Children's "Namonaki Uta" went on to sell 1,208,230 copies in its first week.
In addition, the first day sales of "Everyday Kachusha" (942,475 copies) also set a new record for most copies of a single sold in one day.
This release marks their 8th consecutive #1 single on the Oricon chart, making AKB48 the first female group to have that many since Pink Lady in 1978. They now have a total of 3 singles selling over a million copies.
