If you’re expecting Venus Williams to announce her retirement any time soon, don’t hold your breath.
She’s not going anywhere.
“I’m kind of targeting the next Olympics,” Williams, 36, revealed on the Hallmark Channel. “That’s in, what, three-and-a-half years? And I’m not counting. Three years, sixth months, nine days—I don’t know! But I am targeting that to see if it’s possible to play there. I’ve played a long time, so there’s a part of me that says, hey, I should try to get a life outside of the court.
“But while you’re out there playing, I love that challenge. I love the pressure. It’s all a privilege. If I can be out there, I will be.”
Legend V will be 40 years old when the Tokyo Olympics rolls around. If she competes, she alone will hold the record for most appearances in the women's tennis event at six, a record she currently shares with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario at five apiece. I also believe she would become the oldest woman ever to compete. She is such an inspiration.
Love her commitment, even when she's not dominating unlike others who used the sport for money and fame and then dipped when they couldn't stay on top. Funny that the narrative by the tennis media was once that the sisters weren't supporting the tour and were bad for the sport.

Right?! And now the Williams sisters are sustaining women's tennis. Charitable legends.
excuse you. don't compare Solange with Venus. Venus is a queen.
Especially when Venus paved the way for Serena, was dominant first, and made lasting impact that Serena never did by successfully advocating for equal pay at Wimbledon. She never deserves to be looked at simply as Serena's sister.

Ikr? Venus can stand on her own two feet with her credentials as one of the greats of tennis. William sisters are LEGENDARY.
