2012 In Review
2012 was a difficult year to sum up in just one word. I mean, it was a year where EPs, Mixtapes and flops single-handedly slayed the popular acts. So where do I begin?
In the beginning of the year I was very disappointed with the material that was being released within the first quarter or two. A lot of the mainstream artists in particular have been such a letdown, no epiceness, and no one brought it therefore I had to surf for new music to listen to. R&B, Rap, Alternative/Rock and non-commercial music have been much stronger than the pop music; these genres actually made the remaining quarters a phenomenal year as its coming to an end. But don’t feel bummed out… some of this year’s top charters will make my lists too. Expect some messiness and guilty pleasures of course.
Finding new music has been great. This year I found a liking for sounds and genres I had never thought I would get into. I also owe it to Ace Reject for the creation of the rate games and all the members that have hosted. It was a blast participating and being introduced to some great music both new and old. Thanks to all the friends and members that have introduced me to some great artists this year. Oh, and Spotify was a great discovery; very useful!
This year will be my best countdown to date, especially quality wise. That’s just how I feel; I’ll leave it up for you guys to be the ones to judge.
This countdown will include a mixture of R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, Alternative/Rock, folk, country, electronic, pop, EDM and Witch-Hop. You name it and it’s probably here (minus J/K-pop).
The countdown will be very simple and straightforward. Here is what will be displayed:
