Utada Hikaru wrote the new theme song for movie Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, which was released on November 17, 2012.
The music clip was directed by Cannes International Film Festival Grand Prix winner Naomi Kawase. The clip expresses the concept of "motherhood" in a universal light, using beautiful sceneries of Japan. Kawase says, "Because we live in a time such as this, I wanted to incorporate the message of 'the need to value the things that are presently and immediately around us and can be touched.'" This is a collaborative film for which Utada and Kawase met and exchanged ideas many times in the process of creating it.
This song is soundtrack to a movie but still this is such a surprise
HIKKI Asdfghjklzxcvbm omg does this mean she is recording other things as well?
Well, think of it this way. This is for the Evangelion soundtrack. Evangelion is huge and critically acclaimed. Utada is huge and critically acclaimed. So it's gonna smash.

Watching flowers just blossomed fall
"Too early, this year" you said,
In disappointment, regret
And you were beautiful
If you could see me now
I wonder what you would think
Me, living without you
Everybody finds love
In the end
If you could hear the newborn's cry,
Sound and healthy
Ringing in the town you protected
I know you would be so pleased
The footsteps that continue after us
Everybody finds love
In the end
I can't believe that I'll never see you again
I haven't told you anything yet
I haven't told you anything yet
Watching flowers just blossomed fall
The trees stood by, helpless
However great the fear, I will not look away
If at the end of everything, there is love
