Miami-based indie-pop artist Rachel Goodrich has a familiar voice. It's effortless and slightly smoky, suggesting that a time-tested veteran might behind it, yet Goodrich is a relative newcomer. Her 2008 debut album Tinker Toys dabbled in vaudeville-inspired pop, and, as the video above for the track "Fire" attests, Goodrich also knows how to pull off the no-nonsense Nancy Sinatra swagger with nothing but some spare guitar out on the open plains.
Now, through her own Yellow Bear Records, Goodrich is set to release the follow-up, a self-titled record produced with the help of Grammy-winner Greg Wells (Rufus Wainwright, Weezer). Watch for a tour supporting the 11-song full-length sometime this spring.
