EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has green lit A Star Is Born. Production begins early next year in California, marking the directorial debut of Bradley Cooper, who’ll also star alongside Lady Gaga. Latter gets her first studio starring role, as the ingenue singer whose star rises as quickly as her troubled lover/mentor’s star is falling. Deals have been closed by Warner Bros president of Creative Development and WW Production Greg Silverman, and Gaga will compose and perform new music for the film.
If Gaga's composing music for the film...should she not have to be doing that now? If not nearly finishing? She must have been busy writing this and LG5. Or maybe they cross over? Hello, Bodyguard Soundtrack.
(I'm relieved though that they aren't doing an exact remake. Really couldn't see how that would translate to any sort of box office success today. At least with modern music it'll simply suffer because it's an unknown musical, and not because it's a period musical.)
This will either be extremely successful or a complete disaster
I'm leaning towards the latter. Gut instinct. It's not Gaga shade, it's about the concept. I'm trying to figure out what the target audience might be and I can't. But maybe the studio will do a better job at that and prove me wrong
