Discussion: Why do ppl deny Bey's legend status?

I constantly see ATRL members say that Beyoncé isn't a legend, and is at most, an icon.

I don't get it. She's been in the game for almost 20 years. She's known and cherished by everyone. She has several classics (Crazy In Love, Single Ladies, Irreplaceable, Halo, etc). She's sold over 150 million records as a solo artist (over 210 million records if you include her sales with Destiny's Child) and she's outlasted artists who debuted around the same time as her, as well as artists who debuted several years after she did. At 34-years old, she's still setting records with her music. To sum it all up, Beyoncé is a legendary artist and will go down in history cemented as one.

So why is it that people try to deny that Queen Bey is a legend?

Beyonce has a perfect image - but the world doesn't really know who she is after 20 years.
Yes she can sing and showcase her better than average dancing skills (lets be honest - her ENERGY is what makes her performances shine) but I feel that she has manufactured her own self.

I mean, look at ATRL for example. When new artists are coming up and they flop ATRL says it is because they are not relatable or have no personality.
On the other hand, I mean, yes Beyonce can strut and swing her hair on point, but her personality at most is her laughing or smiling at every comment thrown at her.

She still has lots to prove imo.

Members see me as a Beyoncé "hater" (who uses the word "hater" nowadays?), but that's simply inaccurate. I'm a Beyoncé realist. No one denies that Beyoncé is talented, acclaimed, and an amazing performer, but she's not on the same level as Madonna, Michael Jackson, or Britney Spears. So, when members try to put her on that level, she's going to be discredited.

People can't stand to see acclaimed women of color reach the pinnacle of success and become the biggest influences in their fields. People say the same things about Oprah, Aretha, Rihanna, and Whitney — all legendary black females in their fields.

If Britney and Legend X are legends, Beyoncé and Rihanna (with careers bigger than both Brit and X) are legends.

There's only 1 legend represented in our generation, and it isn't her. Surely the general public, and I will see Beyonce as a legend in the distant future.

No disrespect to Britney, but what's so significant about Britney's career that puts her miles ahead of Beyoncé? I personally think that they're both on the same level. No need to pit them against each other.
