1) She delayed the album bc of ****ing Eurovision?
2) She's gonna flop there and I'm not ready for this, I don't even think she is
3) It's probably a generic song
4) But at least we're getting new music
From the 20 songs announced, it seems fair to say at least six of them have big Estonian names in the performing and songwriting credits: "This Love", "Slingshot", "Verona", "Spirit Animal", "In or Out", and "All I Need". That would give them early advantage under the public eye on what songs people might be interested in.
We'll see if Kerli gets nominated and wins some of the possible categories at the Estonian Music Awards in January: Best Female Artist, Video of the Year or Best Song of the Year. She usually gets nominated and since she released three songs/music videos this year inspired by her native Estonia, it's very likely that she'll do well and get some publicity in her country. Meanwhile, promotions for "Spirit Animal" will have started through morning performances the national broadcaster gives to the public.
In February, we'll have the semi-finals and if she reaches the final and wins Eesti Laul, she'll have plenty of time to finish the album, release it in the Eurovision week and go to represent Estonia. I'm sure she's doing it because it will be a big opportunity for her to promote the song AND the album, especially now that she's independent.
"Immortality", the song she cowrote, finishing in third place at this year's Eesti Laul might have been a good motivation for Kerli to go competing now.
Promotion for "Spirit Animal" in Estonia started today:
