Dr Luke wasn't even popular when she worked with him, he wasn't expensive.
He already had hits with Avril Lavigne in 2007, with Britney in 2008 (Circus) and Miley Cyrus in 2009. Just to name a few. Still, how can a broke gurl even afford a producer working with such kind of A-list stars?
Ke$ha's mother already had connections with the music industry. She was a successful songwriter. She sent Ke$ha's demos to Dr. Luke, not Ke$ha herself. He thought her voice was really distinctive, so he got her to fly out to LA and work. She was 17 and barely had any money. She wrote songs to get by, some for other artists. Eventually she made it in her own right.
Ke$ha was poor before she met Dr Luke and got signed. All the songs that were recorded for 'Animal' were written in 2005-2008 when she moved to LA to pursue her music career and was broke. /closethread

How did she record literally 100s of demos? Her mom isn't rich, yes she has some connections, but 100s of demos before Dr Luke?
