Twenty One Pilots Have The No. 1 Best-Selling Vinyl Album Of 2016
Alternative rockers Twenty One Pilots scored the best-selling vinyl album of 2016 with their first chart-topping title, Blurryface. While the album was actually released in 2015, the band was busy promoting it through all of last year thanks to the incredible success of its singles. “Stressed Out” made it all the way to the runner-up position on the Hot 100, while follow-up cut “Ride” stalled at No. 5. Even the group’s Suicide Squad soundtrack contribution “Heathens” sped all the way to No. 2 on the singles tally, which helped power that album and kept the band’s name in the press and on the charts, which in turn moved more copies of their own records.
Twenty One Pilots had such an amazing year in 2016 that they were able to place not one, but two of their albums on the list of the best-selling vinyl. The appearance of Blurryface isn’t shocking, but their 2013 record Vessel at No. 8 is rather surprising, given that it didn’t perform nearly as well when it came to any other type of sales.
