Why do Rihanna, Katy Perry, & Bruno Mars effortlessly go #1?
I mean, Rihanna has tied Madonna's 12 #1s in the span of 6~ years (from 2006-2012). Getting as much as 3 #1s per era. Katy Perry tied Michael Jackson's iconic 5 #1s from a single album record during the Teenage Dream era. Bruno Mars just started in 2010 and is already about to get his 5th #1. Even Adele snatched 3 #1s from 21 and could have undoubtedly had more had she released more singles. Keeping in mind that these artists sell singles and albums, why is it so effortless for them compared to other pop stars who maybe only get one huge single per era?
Their the "It" artists at the moment, they have millions of fans, they stay true to themselves, they are respected by the general public and don't try hard to be something that they aren't, plus they make good music.
Who can really relate to S&M or Last Friday Night though?
Of course there's going to be exceptions. People can still relate to S&M and LFN, though imo.
But Firework, Teenage Dream, Diamonds, We Found Love, Just The Way You Are, Grenade, etc. are just a few songs that are huge since the general public can 'click' with them.
