Kesha on Monday filed to dismiss her sexual assault lawsuit against producer Dr. Luke in California as she focuses on restarting her music career.

The “Tik Tok” singer has been locked in a legal battle with Dr. Luke in New York as she tries to get out of an exclusive multi-record deal, arguing she can no longer work with a man she claims drugged and sexually assaulted her.

For nearly four years now, she has remained bound to Dr. Luke and his Kemosabe label under Sony Music and released no new music as the courtroom drama plays out.

But in the past month, Kesha’s legal team says she has submitted 28 new songs, recorded at her own expense, in order to fulfill her contractual obligations.

“Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label,” Daniel Petrocelli, partner at O’Melveny & Myers, said in a statement to BuzzFeed News. “We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible.”

I hope she can at least get her career back on track, but to continue being a money-making puppet controlled by Luke and putting millions (hopefully) in his, her (probably) rapists', pocket? Hardly seems worth it.

Sad to see people so ignorant and clueless about her legal situation that they think her withdrawing her case means she "lied." No it means she knows how the justice system works, she knows she has no evidence, and she knows how the media perception and interest in this case will skew the findings, and she also knows how powerful Luke is, even with celebrities speaking out in support of her.

Queen remains beautiful and a legend.

Friendly reminder that she never filed a criminal lawsuit to begin with. It was a civil suit aimed at getting out of her contract. And refused the chance to release under another label while fulfilling her contractual obligation to SONY. Very suspect.

And it's not uncommon for rape victims to drop their lawsuits against their abuser. Many don't even bother filing one at all out of personal shame and embarrassment.

I have mixed feelings. Really this should have been done a long time ago when it was made clear things were just gonna keep getting pushed back / dismissed and she obviously never had any concrete evidence so I think her lawyer kind of screwed her over just to get her coins.

Obviously it's disgusting to think about her having to work with Luke, if he really did sexually assault her all those years ago, but I hope she can fulfil the contract and get out now. I hope it's not too late. I don't expect she will have any commercial success but I just hope she can get in a better position and regain control over her own life.
