I wouldn't say that he's being "let off the hook;" he's being dragged in a lot of media platforms, but I think the fact that he's a reasonably young, attractive, straight, white male with millions of rabid fans lessens the backlash that he would have had if he were actually famous and the public outside of the Vine community knew who he actually was.
