So that was last year's two year ends. Kanye took both #1's, will someone else hold both spots, or can we have two different artists. I can announce that at the top of the singles chart year-end, there has been swapping and changing on the point board. Two artists are competing for it, and their is a tiny amount of points between both singles? Who will it be?
Why?: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour are a band from Denmark, they are Danish for the un-smart people out there. Their single "Around The Bend" is a fun, bright pop song that'll make your day that little bit happier than it already was. I don't know what it is about Danish bands, but they all seem to be happy-go-lucky bands. First there was Aqua, then we had Alphabeat, now we have The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. It must be something about the water in Denmark. You may be wondering where you heard the song? Well if you were, you may have heard this on the latest Apple iPod Touch commercial.
Why?: Darren Styles has been around for ages. He's apart of the dance duo, Styles & Breeze. Many people (most of the site), won't have heard of Darren Styles. Time to introduce him. You all seem to like September (and she's terrible), well you should like Darren. He has been hailed as the King of Clubland. This is his third official single from his debut album "Skydivin'", which is one my favourite albums of 2008, expect to see it on the top 20 albums of 2008 list.
Why?: The Saturdays have became a house-hold name here in the UK this past year. They have already got 2 top 10 singles, "If This Is Love" #8 and "Up!" #5. Also two top 30 singles in Europe. People are disappointed with their third single choice, but I think it's a nice Winter choice. As a brand new girl group, I think they've done amazing with their single choices. They started off with a mid-tempo dance tune, then a fast tapping pop song, and finally a slow ballad. Showing off all different strengths. Which many other girl groups have failed to prove (e.g. Sugababes). You may remember members Frankie and Rochelle from S Club 7 Offsprings, S Club Juniors (8).
I liked "If This Is Love" and "Up" but I'm not feeling "Issues".
Not a lot of people like "Issues" but I'm in love with the song and the girls. I have a soft-spot for them. Their music is just amazing. And so is their album. I just think it's amazing how they are showing so many different types of music every single song they release.
