i think ill actually do this this year <3
so i'm gonna do my favorite:
25 songs (one song per artist lel)
15 movies
10 albums
there won't be any fancy graphics & ill probs go super fast but hopes you'll post in here<3
recap
albums:
10-2. irrelevant 1. Carleviticus Rae Jepsus - E•MO•TION
yeah, don't really like most of her stuff, so this one genuinely surprised me. the album as a whole actually surpassed my expectations since electra heart sucked
23. Brandon Flowers - Can't Deny My Love
typically not a fan of the killers' stuff, so i was shocked how much i liked his album! this track is definitely my favorite from the album
22. Charli XCX - Doing It
definitely would be higher if a certain someone wasn't on the track
21. FKA twigs - in time
twigs her ep was kind of rly a mess but this one really stuck with me
oh yay comments
will just post the beginning of my fav movies set and continue tomorrow
15. Ex Machina
Yeah, I found this a tad overrated, but it girl of 2015 Alicia Vikander really delivers in this film. The film is about the creation of an AI with a mind of her own (played by Vikander) made by a developer played by Oscar Isaac. The cinematography is beautiful, the film is wonderfully acted, and the dance scene has become one of my favorite scenes one of the year.
14. The Duke of Burgundy
What a bizarre yet entrancing film. On the surface, it can be described as yet another S&M film, but I feel that it's much more than that. It's the study of a relationship between two women and focuses on their differing wants and desires.
13. Inside Out
Eeeek, really didn't expect to love this pixar film as much as I did just from watching the trailer. however it turned out to be absolutely beautiful and was an incredibly sweet experience
A light hearted comedy that always gets me in a jovial mood. <3
11. Phoenix
Whew, Nina Hoss, who plays a Nazi war camp survivor named Nelly, is everything here. In this German film, Nelly attempts to find her husband who she hasn't seen since her imprisonment. However, when she finally finds him, their encounter takes a twisted turn. Phoenix is not only about dealing with attachment to the past , but it's also about the destruction and cultivation of identity. And THOSE last five minutes
10. The Lobster
wow, s00 quirky & different!! the lobster takes place in a world where single people are forced to check in a hotel and have to find a lover there or else they'll be turned into an animal of their choice. it's strange, it's funny, and it's also a cute ~forbidden love~ story
might as well try to get through the movies list and move on to music asap!!
9. Spotlight
Spotlight is based on The Boston Globe's investigation of the Catholic church's controversy of child molestation. The cast is absolutely superb and it was defo an intense watch.
8. It Follows
The retro-esque cinematography and score are absolutely beautiful in this film. There's an ubiquitous eerie atmosphere as every unfamiliar face to the main character Jay could be the malicious entity that's relentlessly out to get her. Definitely one of my favorite horror movies in a long time.
7. Mustang
ahhhhh, i didn't expect to love this as much as i did but this was absolutely amazing. mustang is a turkish film that follows a group of sisters who are under the control of an oppressive and conservative village and family. the film is about freedom and prevailing sisterhood all whilst fighting against forces that seem to be bent on destroying said sisterhood
From the movies, I've only seen Inside Out, which was great, I think The Lobster sounded alright though, I might check that out
From the songs: Cool For The Summer is quality. Who would have thought Demi would deliver. No Sleeep is everything music should be, I love Hotline Bling making an appearance and Can't Deny my love for Brandon
