As we countdown the final days of 2015 and get ready for what 2016 has in store, it’s important to look back at the trends and growth we saw in the radio industry this past year. One of this year’s major headlines in the industry was the growth of radio’s weekly reach to a record 245 million Americans (aged 12 and older) in the second quarter.
What’s more, Nielsen’s Total Audience Report, also released in the second quarter, found that when comparing weekly reach among all adults, radio leads the way with 93% of Americans tuning in.
Surprising how high country is up there but you don't have people on the internet always talking about country music... are country fans the only people who are a significant but quiet minority?
Country's hits (Burning House, Heartbeat, Strip It Down, Girl Crush, Like a Wrecking Ball, etc.) have taken a big **** on Pop's hits this year (See You Again, Sugar, Habits, Uptown Funk, Bad Blood, etc.).

I'm always surprised when I see people on here making such a big deal about radio and airplay... like literally no one I know over the age of 21 listens to the radio anymore. Why when u can easily plug your iPhone into your car? I mean...

No adults you know even listen to talk radio...? Seriously?
I know what you mean, but this is a pop music forum. That's why we're obsessed with the stuff. And a lot of people prefer the randomness of radio, hearing their favorite songs and knowing thousands of others are also listening, probably stanning.

Of course talk/sports radio but I guess I should have specified, I'm talking about pop/urban radio.
I get the stanning part, we all do it but my only thing is it's not 2001 anymore like radio plays such a small part IMO as to whether a song is a hit or not.
Putting aside Goddess Swift whose might puts Her above the lessers, the mortals:
country has Love Me Like You Mean It, I Got the Boy, Girl Crush.
pop has love myself, fight song, the heart wants what it wants.
Comparable highs.
For next year, I presume I Know What You Did Last Summer will get legit-big while Kelsea's 3rd single should be way better than her 2nd; people are speculating Peter Pan or The Last Time.
