They weren't the biggest pop stars of the era, but Ciara, Rihanna, Jessica Simpson and Pink comprise a second tier of divas that still held a significant place in the mid-aughties music scene. In 2006, each released an album that would serve as a definitive moment in her career: For Ciara, her highly-anticipated Ciara: The Evolution represented last gasp of her It Girl status. For Rihanna, the success of A Girl Like Me, including her first Billboard Hot 100 #1, proved she was no one-hit wonder. For Jessica Simpson, the massive floppage of A Public Affair was a surprise, demonstrating that no one cared about her outside of the tabloids post-Newlyweds. And for Pink, I'm Not Dead provided a hard-fought comeback after the poorly-received Try This! appeared to have ended her career.
But which album reigns supreme? It's time to find out. In this rate, the good voters of ATRL will pit these four former B-listers against each other in a vicious musical showdown in which one song will be ultimately be named the (secondary) pop champion of 2006. (Will it be "SOS"? "U + Ur Hand"? "Promise"? "Who Knew"? Surely Jessica Simpson stands no chance.) You can help decide by listening to the following 57 tracks and ranking each one individually on a scale from 0-10, and then sending me your ballot by Saturday, January 19. May the best diva win!
I sure hope so. I'm not wasting my time on this thing for some ******, undeserving winner.
Hear that, everyone? Give "Promise" a 10.
I'm thinking of actually not giving anything but that song a 10, it's that much better than everything else. I expect P!nk to have the most top 10 spots (and deservedly so). I just really don't want Who Knew to win
Pink is a contender though - I'm talking about taking half of the top 10 I bet. A Public Affair will be perched I'm sure as well as S.O.S. so this should be fun.
"Promise" better be at least in the top three, and I'm being generous. Everyone is allowed to drag Jessica as much as they want, but be nice to "A Public Affair".

I briefly considered that as well, but I'm Not Dead has some really great songs that I simply can't deny.
