The Best of the Best: It's Begun! (Top 110 Announced)
Yes, you read that right - because of a lot of ties, there will be 110 artists playing in the first round. I have a lot of trivia about voting, some which I will add in this post, some that I will add later. But first ... let me explain the rules of the game!
The First Round
Now that the first 110 artists have been decided, they will be grouped in groups of eleven for the next ten weeks to "compete" against each other - sort of like the Olympics, or American Idol.
How will the compete? Well, in order to compete, they need songs to be submitted, right? Here's how you all do this:
Submit to me (via PM) your Top Fours. These can be your favorite four songs by a particular artist, or the four songs that you think will work best in a competition. They can be all singles, all album tracks, all b-sides/unreleased material, or a combination [like I plan on doing!] Submissions should look like this:
Jessica Simpson (don't worry, she didn't make the list)
#1 - Push Your Tush
#2 - You Don't Have to Let Go
#3 - Hot Like Fire
#4 - Come on Over
WITH YOUR FAVORITE SONG IN THE NUMBER ONE POSITION, AND YOUR LEAST FAVORITE (of the four you've chosen) IN THE NUMBER FOUR POSITION.
Important: THE PMS MOST BE TITLED "WEEK (whatever week it is)TOP FOURS. If they're not, they will not be looked at.
Remember: only songs made/released post 2000. So, again, for say, Destiny's Child - no Say My Name or Jumpin' Jumpin - they come from an album released in 1999. If you ignore this rule, your votes will not be counted.
You don't have to submit top fours for each artist in every week - just for the ones you feel most comfortable with/like the most. Also, you don't have to participate every week - you can come and go as you like, because that's the only way this game is going to work?
Now, during the first round, each artist's fourth place song will be playing - but, as the rounds increase, and the artists decrease, they will be whittled down. The lucky artists making it to the first round will have their most popular song representing them.
I'll be back with more instructions, and the final 110, in the next post!

Um, I don't like this ranking nonsense. Too confusing for most members here and they will **** up. NO LIE.

LMAO I know! I'm mean, I told people in the last thread not to vote for people like Britney and Amy anymore, and they were both in the last list I received - at 11 friggin oclock! So, like I am serious when I say that I will nto count the votes if people can not do them correctly?
But Tib (I feel we're close enough for me to call you this) the ranks are not that hard. Everyone, just remember - if you love say, Gimme More more than your own mother, put it at number four. If you love Break the Ice a little bit less than your dog, put it at number one - THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST. Reverse chronological people, reverse chronological.

Maybe #1 should be your favorite and #4 your least favorite, there will be less confusion that way

I have to say this again, and this time I have to bold it:
SONGS FROM ALBUMS RELEASED IN THE 1990s ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. So, for Christina Aguilera, that means no What a Girl Wants or Come on Over Baby and for Alanis Morrisette, that means NOTHING from Jagged Little Pill.
But thanks for the participation!

Can we send u like two Top Fours from two different artists, or do we have to choose only one from those 11?

Thanks so much Yankee, but let me add something:
If you cannot think of four songs for an artist, don't submit anything.

Early 2000's chart toppers didn't make the list like Nickelback, The Calling, Ja Rule, Lifehouse, Creed, Craig David, Sean Paul...

And that's a good thing. A very good thing.
In fact, since Monsieur Bluegrey mentioned it, here are fifteen artists that JUST missed the list.
The Close Calls (because Also-Rans is a little too mean, don't you think?)
Tegan and Sara
Cat Power
Joanna Newsom (damn you ATRL)
The Offspring
Keane
Vanessa Hudgens (c'mon ATRL, you can do better)
Katy Perry (seriously? SERIOUSLY?)
Brandy
Dixie Chicks
Matchbox 20
Gnarls Barkley
Norah Jones
Robbie Williams
Santogold
T.I.
Also, a little trivia:
- An impressive 36 posters submitted lists.
12 of those lists were received within the last 24 hours.
Coldplay and Mariah Carey tied for the most placings, with 13 each.
Most of the artists that made the list got only three mentions, the minimum amount needed to make it onto the list.
For a while, Amy Winehouse was the only solo British artist on the list. Within the last three days of voting, she was joined by her predecessor (PJ Harvey)), her contemporaries (Lily Allen, M.I.A.) and those she's inspired (Leona Lewis, Kate Nash, Duffy).
Britney and Christina dominated the list, while (much like 1999) their two "competitors" struggled immensely just to make a showing. Ultimately, Mandy made it - but J-Simp didn't. Maybe that move to "country" was ill-advised on a number of levels?
And for fun:
Artists on the list that debuted in the 80s: 6 (U2, The Beastie Boys, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kylie Minogue)
Artists that debuted in the 90s: 34(Aaliyah, AFI, Christina Aguilera, Fiona Apple, Beck, Black Eyed Peas, Bjork, Mariah Carey, Daft Punk, Deftones, Death Cab for Cutie, Destiny's Child, Missy Elliot, Eminem, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Green Day, PJ Harvey, Incubus, Jay-Z, Jewel, Kelis, KoRn, Jennifer Lopez, Mandy Moore, Alanis Morrisette, Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt, Outkast, Radiohead, Shakira, Britney Spears, Usher, Weezer)
Everyone else debuted in 2000, somewhere after.

Uh, Muse debuted in the 90s, too. Showbiz came out in 1999.
Sorry, I'm nitpicky like that.
