Mary J Blige Has No Hard Feelings Over Missing Umbrella....

Rihanna's "Umbrella" summer (07) smash-hit was originally intended for Mary J. Blige.

The Family Affair hitmaker was offered the song at the beginning of the year - but she was too busy to record it.

She says, "The song was recorded for me... and it was during the Grammy time and I was really, really busy. I heard it and I thought, Oh my goodness, that's a smash. I love this song." But Blige insists she has nothing but love for Rihanna - and loves her version of the song.

She adds, "She's such a beautiful lady and I love her to death.

I was so glad that she caught it and knocked it out of the park. It's still one of my favorite songs today."

Stupid Mary, she would've had a smash hit if she would have accepted the song. She deserved it more than Rihanna.

Yep, today she siad that on TRL, Umbrella was originally for her & would have been a hit if it was her song as well because the song is great. I can definetly see her doing the song

I think Umbrella would be way better with Mary singing it. She would add a nice R&B spin to the song, and you know how some people say Umbrella is annoying with all those ella's and eh's? Well, it might not have been annoying to them if Mary sang it.
