During Sunday night's Academy Awards broadcast, host Chris Rock brought three young Asian Americans on stage for a joke — but not all viewers were laughing.
putting 3 Asian kids on stage. saying they're working for an accounting firm (good at math stereotype). Then he said if anyone was angry, tweet about it on their phone, which was also made by those kids (child labor reference)
So there were multiple jokes towards Asians made at the Oscars? Weren't they, Chris especially, ~trying to promote anti-prejudice? Disgusting and backwards.
I do remember this and it was pretty cringeworthy and tacky, especially since the kids didn't even look like they knew why they were on stage to begin with. I thought Chris was doing a great job up until that point, but that was a huge misstep in his act. I'm glad to see Asians actually sticking up for themselves this time
