The Holyground Top 40 countdown dated back in 2009, though having no name. Back then, the charts were done on a daily basis. All sorts of songs were allowed to chart, including old and recurrent songs. Charts were handmade, drawn and written onto pieces of paper. Slowly, the chart was updated much more sporadically, not following the daily guide.
In 2010, Mr. Holyground noted how absurd it was to have a chart that does not update on a regular basis. As such, the countdown underwent its first major overhaul on 20 July 2010. It was moved onto an Excel sheet, the charts were updated on a weekly basis, no old songs were allowed to chart, which means only current singles were eligible. The first number-one was California Gurls, featuring Snoop Dogg, by Katy Perry.
Since then, the chart has evolved a couple of times. Till 20 September 2013, the charts were only viewed by Mr. Holyground. On that date was he finally able to share it to others.
So sit tight as we blaze through my 40 biggest songs every week. I hope that you would give some comments on them.
Glad you made your own countdown! I love the songs in here, great variety.
Just one thing, could you possibly choose a different color for the top 10's peak position than yellow, I can't read it
