The curly hair is messed up from the scuffle trying to get out the chimney, their lips got scratched on the way down hence the big puffy red lips, and the earrings I guess are just for style and fashion sense

I'm so done with this ****ing country. The police needs to be held responsible for the way they handled this but you know they won't. Lets just hope this only pushes the protests further. Change is finally happening.
The truth is that it's based on black people (obviously), but he isn't seen as black anymore, it's a fictional creature. And people have made up different reasons why he has black skin, etc.
If I were a father with a 5-year old kid looking at Sinterklaas coming into the city I would not want protestors to shatter my kid's belief in Sinterklaas.
On the other hand, it's pretty clear that this blackface has its roots in how African people generally look like.
My conclusion: they shouldn't protest during the events, but make sure the discussion stays alive and that progress is made on the middle-long term. I think in 2025 Black Pete should no longer exist in its current form.

I agree......but 2025 seems a bit far.......I would prefer that things will change a bit faster....that will make these people chill out a bit tbh.......and people should just give these people what they want....but...the thing is......that these protests certainly had an effect on the discussion and progress...**** is changing (stores,schools,sinterklaasjournaal and rtl are banning black pete)....these people should keep protesting.....cuz it does result to CHANGE
