With the 41-26 rise of DNCE's "Cake by the Ocean" on the Hot 100, Jonas has hit the top 40 under three billings -- just like McCartney has, thanks to his work with the Beatles, Wings & solo. Other luminaries have similarly tripled up.
As previously reported, the Jonas-fronted DNCE jumps 41-26 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Jan. 23) with its debut Republic Records single "Cake by the Ocean."
When considering Jonas' full chart history, the rise of "Cake" places him in elite territory, as Jonas has now hit the Hot 100's top 40 under three billings: before DNCE, he tallied 10 top 40 hits in 2007-09 as part of Jonas Brothers, while he notched two as a soloist in 2008.
Jonas, thus, joins a select cluster of chart veterans who've scored such a triple, led by, most prominently, Paul McCartney.
Jonas and McCartney are joined by other choice company. Other acts that have hit the Hot 100's top 40 solo and with at least two groups: Paul Carrack, Ice Cube, Johnny Gill, CeeLo Green, Ted Nugent, Donny Osmond, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, Tommy Shaw and John Waite.
Meanwhile, Eric Clapton has hit the Hot 100's top 40 as a soloist and with three groups: Cream, Derek & the Dominos and the Yardbirds.
