Battle of the Bubblegum B-Listers | And the winner is...
Not every aspiring pop diva during the bubblegum explosion of the late ‘90s and early 2000s could be Britney or Christina. Hell, they couldn’t even all be Mandy or Jessica. So as every record label under the sun rushed in to capitalize on the power of teen pop, young music lovers were left with an underclass of hip-shaking, hook-singing ingenues and girl groups to occasionally recall with fondness in the years to come.
This rate celebrates those mostly forgotten ladies and their modest accomplishments: the sole Hot 100 hits, the “TRL” and Radio Disney favorites, the soundtrack singles for children’s movies. It is also an opportunity for redemption—for one bargain bin act to momentarily graduate to all-star status when her song is crowned the ultimate B-list bop of the bubblegum era.
And it's up to you, the good voters of ATRL! You can help decide the winner by listening to the following 50 songs, ranking each one individually on a scale from 1-10, and then sending me your scores by Sunday, November 23. (No trolling or your vote will be tossed.) Happy listening!
So in Love with Two by Mikaila is one of my favorite songs of all time, everyone better stan
Willa Ford too
This is definitely my rate, I love bubblegum pop
It's probably played even more than Mariah's AIWFIY (because AIWFIY has many versions, and they don't always play Mariah's, but there is only the Vitamin C's version, which is played in every single school)
