Hello beautiful person and thanks for clicking on my thread.

So, I kind of decided to do this at the last minute (which you probably can't tell from my very detailed banner) because I thought it might be fun to keep track of what I liked about this year's music. 2015 was the year I got MUCH more into music. Before this year I steered clear of Marina and the Diamonds because she was too alternative for me.

But thankfully I branched out and discovered so many new and wonderful albums and artists.

I'll start by counting down 35 albums I listened to and (mostly) liked this year. If I have time I'll move onto songs. I'll start later today.

Album #35

Miley Cyrus - Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz

This is definitely my least favourite album of the year, and the only one on my list that I didn't at least like. I have nothing against Miley, and actually respect her for doing her own thing without caring what others think, but this album is just a mess. The song titles make me cringe, the lyrics aren't much better, it drags on for about 30 minutes too long, and her vocals can be even more grating than usual. I get what she was trying to do with this album (is it even an official album? I still don't know) but it just falls flat to me.

Highlights: Dooo It! is the only track I kind of like, and I think that's mainly due to the amazing VMA performance.

Miley's album had potential and it was done with good intent but the material on it was..... pretty off. It had a couple of alright songs though, It felt really long too but I guess that's because of how many tracks it had.

That's basically my feelings on it as well. I do like her for releasing it for free.

Hurts - Surrender

I was looking forward to this album after hearing the singles & promo tracks, but unfortunately they were the highlights of the album for me. I still like it, but not quite as much as I was hoping I would. Definitely check it out anyway if you're into synthpop as you could find a few hidden gems.

Highlights: Rolling Stone, Some Kind of Heaven.

I didn't like Miley's thing very much either.

The only track I really enjoyed was "I'm So Drunk" which is basically just a 30 sec interlude that should have been extended.

I'll listen to this Hurts album! I love synth pop.

Miley's album is tragic imo.

Some friends of mine told me that Hurts' album is very good but after your description I'll probably check out just the singles.

I loved Miley's album and still frequently listen to a handful of its tracks. Glad you put it on your list and didn't forget about it.

Wish you would have liked it more but oh well I seem to be one of the few only ones

Still haven't gotten around to listen to Hurts' new album but I really want to.

Shawn Mendes - Handwritten

This is a cute little album filled with some nice guitar based songs. It's not particularly deep, but it doesn't need to be. It succeeds in what it sets out to do and I guess that's the most important thing. It's more of an album that I would put on in the background than play over and over again but I like it. He has potential to evolve as a songwriter.

Highlights: Life of the Party, Stitches.

The Neighbourhood - Wiped Out!

I love the kind of emo pop vibe that The Neighbourhood have going on with their music. It's the sort of thing I'll listen to when I'm in a "I hate the world and everyone in it" type of mood. This is their second album and I actually prefer it to the first. I think they've expanded on and refined their signature sound. The only reason that it's this low is that some of the songs kind of blur together and it can drag on when I'm not in the right mood to listen.

Highlights: Prey, The Beach

MS MR - How Does It Feel

Following from Wiped Out! is another sophomore album, this time from the pop duo MS MR. A lot of people were disappointed with this album after Secondhand Rapture, but I prefer this. I think it's more fun and an overall better album. It's not a groundbreaking album by any means but it is decent, catchy pop which is what I'm sure most of us on this site love.

Highlights: Painted, Tripolar
