I'm surprised most people don't realize this. It's incredible how much more effort is put into exciting the consumer and promoting music and an image that you care about now than a few years ago. The change is just incredible. What being a "popstar" entails is so much different than it was in early 2008. Love or hate any of the big girls, they have all (since Gaga rose to power) stepped up their game tremendously, and they all have demonstrated a desire to be the best. I can't get mad about that, even if I do get sick of Rihanna songs getting released every two months.
