Chase Utley finally answers the "It's Always Sunny" letter
Five years ago, the character Mac on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia wrote a letter that he hoped to get to his favorite baseball player, Phillies second baseman Chase Utley. Mac, played by Rob McElhenney, asked Utley to play catch and briefly noted his strained relationship with his father, a career criminal.
It’s unclear how Mac got his letter to Utley, since he tried going through Major League Baseball, Utley’s lawyer and Utley’s mom. But in any case, Utley finally responded.
The veteran infielder writes:
Quote:
Dear Mac,
I feel like I can call you Mac because you called me Chase. Sorry it took me five years to write you back, but I’m really busy playing a lot of baseball for the Phillies. Thank you for the compliment on my hair. It’s my fourth favorite thing after baseball, running fast, and my dad. I’m sorry your dad doesn’t like you. Maybe you could become a better son. Meeting you and having a game of catch sounds like a lot of fun, but like I said, I’m really busy playing a lot of baseball for the Phillies.
I hope you have a good life. Fans like you make my life a “grand slam.”
Your good friend,
Chase
If the knowledge that his letter helped make Utley’s life “a grand slam” wouldn’t be enough to motivate Mac to get to the gym to tack on mass to impress his new “good friend” Chase, the illustration Utley used to sign off surely could.
Look at how happy Mac and Chase are! The only problem is that there’s no way Mac would show up to meet Utley without wearing his duster. After all, it makes him look like Lorenzo Lamas and women find it irresistible.
