What does Rihanna have to do to prove she is the QoP?
7 albums in and she continues to get hit after hit and with every era she keeps growing more and more yet the title of Queen of Pop doesn't seem to fit her with some but why? People say because she is not a good performer but does that matter when her current tour is selling and will outsell others that are called pop royalty, even so she always gets booked to perform at major award shows. The other reason might be the criticism that she cant sing as that too shouldnt matter since Madonna can't sing as well compared to some yet she is still called the Queen of Pop. So why doesn't Rihanna deserve this title? She is controversial, she has several hits, can book stadiums, and influence fashion not mention she is able to dominate in both pop and urban.
What does poor Rihanna have to do to finally get the title of the current Queen of Pop?
or are people just pressed

I think she'd need an era as big as TFM

I think Rihanna lacks the ability to capture people's attention. Madonna, Gaga, Britney, Beyonce and the like all got people riled up at some point about something whether it was what they wore, said, did or didn't do. They were/are media magnets. Rihanna can't seem to get a headline that wasn't correlated to Chris Brown. You rarely see anyone mad about Rihanna, she's kinda just there, indifferent to most people and, when it comes to being Queen of Pop, you're gonna need a bit more than that.

Not really. I mean obviously there are articles about her and her life and the like, but what I mean is, that it's all rather objective. There's never really a strong opinion about her, people seem to kinda shrug her off.
I mean look at that GP poll thread posted the other day and you'll see that most people were indifferent towards Rihanna. I think a Queen of Pop should at least get some people other than those that are on an internet forum pressed. Rihanna doesn't.

They will remain pressed while rihanna stacks up them classics and hit's for more years to come! A queen is consistent and remains a pop fav PAST their prime something other gurls fav fail to do.

-Have a memorable performance (her career has gone on for THIS long without a single iconic performance, that's no QoP)
-Have an iconic album instead of just lil quick singles
-Make some kind of impact outside Top 40 radio and red hair dye sales
-Find SOMETHING in the world to sing about other than the tired sex theme rehash on every album
-Have a #1 single that she actually wrote herself

Pretty much this. She and the other girls can serve hit single after hit single but if you want to be Queen of Pop, take a cue from the original Queen of Pop - Madonna's repertoire. She not only served modern classics like Vogue and Like A Prayer and made herself headline fodder with her intelligent use of sex, religion, fashion and open embrace of underground gay culture, but she was also an incredibly hard-working and powerful performer and hands-on business woman in charge of her own image and career. Sure her vocals weren't the best, far from it, but always she stayed serving full choreo, theatrical set pieces all while singing live (most of the time).
Madonna bled and sweat on stage every night, against censorship, controversy and her own ego to delver to the world her work, and that's how she became (and continues to be) the reigning Queen of Pop. 7 albums in, Rihanna could stand to learn a few lessons about sharpening her performances and work ethic from Madge, as well as some of the other girls. Dropping singles and looks at the cutting edge of modern trends will only get her so far as an artist.

She needs to sell way more albums and singles globally. Her singles never make the IFPI year-end, and her album sales are crap besides Loud (a 'smash' era which sold less than BTW, a flop era, and didn't have a single song in the IFPI year-end top 10 unlike Gaga's flop era) and GGGB. Her global IFPI receipts are anything but queen of pop.
Unlike Gaga who's albums are always in the top 3 of the year, who's singles always make the IFPI, who's tours easily gross over 150 million each time.

I'm laughing at atrl'ers still living in a bubble where beyonce, britney spears etc still matter
-
rihanna's been the top popstar since the loud era, and no amount of living in the past can change that really

I definitely agree that Rihanna could learn a thing or twelve about performing from Madonna, but I definitely think that Madonna and Rihanna parallel each other when it comes to captivating people and forcing the GP to confront female sexuality in a bold way. They have very similar public personas and represent many of the same things.
But obviously there will never be another Madonna, no matter how much some stars may try.
