The changes to the Hot 100 will take place in the 8/11/07 issue. They've been running test charts all year long.
Historically, the Hot 100 formula has been roughly airplay (60%) and sales (40%). The new chart changes will adjust the chart back to it's more historic ratios.
Over the last year the chart had seen the ratio for airplay (40%-30%) and sales (60%-70%) change dramatically due to large digital growth in 2006 and 2007.
The breakout of the new Hot 100 formula will basically be airplay (55%), sales (40%) and on-demand streaming (5%).
Airplay will now include all BDS monitored stations regardless of whether they report to a specific format or not (it will also include the stations removed from the Country panel for not playing enough currents).
i would have guess that uhm digital downloads should have been higher since that is the basic representation of us the audience... b/c airplay is basically just how much the artists pay the radio stations to play their songs IMO... but cool cool thanks for sharing
and who does airplay usually help out... uhm oh yeah R&B and Hip Hop lmao os uhm does it really change things... uhm no lol... so are they going to restart all songs to 1 week or restart them like the way they did the canadian ones...????
I know that some songs will get screwed. Remember years ago when they did this and "Are You That Somebody?" ended up peaking at only 21? That had #1 written all over it.
So I guess Britney isn't getting to #1 with her debut, or any pop act for that matter.
Wow that's true and now Rihanna, Beyonce and all that pseudo R&B **** will take the charts over, I guess Britney and Christina will never have a hit in the US, ever
