The 2002 Bali bombings occurred on 12 October 2002 in the tourist district of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali. The attack was claimed as the deadliest act of terrorism in the history of Indonesia according to the current police general, killing 202 people, (including 88 Australians, and 38 Indonesian citizens). Today, October 12th 2012, marks the 10 Year Anniversary of the Bali bombings
The explosions were so massive, particularly the almost 1,000-kilogram bomb that detonated in a white Mitsubishi van outside Kuta's Sari Club, that some victims were said to have virtually vaporised, leaving no remains. Even 10 years later two are still unnamed.
