As someone said earlier there's a bigger picture. Hollywood has a history of excluding racial minorities.
This is something we learned in my film history class last year. When it came to casting ethnic roles, light skinned African American and Latino actors were more likely to be cast over darker skinned actors. And a lot of it still goes on today.
