What musical trend in Pop music do you think is just the WORST? Tell me, and tell me why you think it's the worst!

-Don't just name years, there are multiple trends going on at once, usually.
-Don't single out specific artists plz.

All the self-empowerment songs a few years ago. Seriously. I wanted to kill myself.

Oh, all those Diddy hits that poorly sampled songs and then Ja Rule/Ashanti/J Lo/Fat Joe ********, yeah that was pretty bad!

The folk/minimalism trend is growing tiresome on me, personally (45S, TOL, etc.) It's far from the worst, though, and we got a fair amount of good songs from it. Just wanted to vent that one out, lol.

I would say the AC rock ballads of the early 2000s (Nickelback, Creed, Hoobastank, etc.) are some of the cheesiest songs I've ever heard.

Also, 90s powers ballads.

The house music trend during the early 90's that brought us songs like 'Do You Think I'm Sexy'

Over flamboyance in outfitting courtesy of Lady Gaga (Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna all started doing it)

The rough, trashy hobo-ish look in the mid-80's thanks to Madonna, Boy George and Cyndi Pauper etc.

The featuring trend we have right now where every song seems to have featured attached to it

The EDM explosion during the late 00's/early 10's thanks to producers like Guetta, Avicci, Skrillex, Calvin Harris etc.

i hate to say it... because 2 of my faves pretty much popularised it (although they did it well), but i really don't like when rappers feature on pop songs

For me
-Mid 90s Power Pop/Rock/R&B ballads, that's the time when they stopped becoming distinct and I was not likin it.
-Late 80s Stadium Pop-Rock (like, the ONLY era of the 80s I'm not infatuated with.
-Early 70s Folk/Pop. Girl, those songs were the PITS.
-Early 2000's post-grunge, ugh. Creed, Nickelback, Evanescence, Hoobastank...

That's not really a pop music/chart music trend

The annual random indie group that gets a hit or two and then fades into nothing

The minimalistic trend atm (Ed, Rih and somehow Sam) and this slow songs I want fun upbeat songs

The funky/retro whatever u call it (Blurred Lines/Happy/uptown funk) leaving us stuck with those songs @1 for months

The empowering anthems so cringe worthy.

Cheap EDM breakdowns. There were great ones at the time they started with stuff like WFL, but nowadays they are so bad and often ruin otherwise legit songs.

Viral songs. No question. Gangnam Style, What Does The Fox Say, Harlem Shake, etc.

All so, so terrible.

Some years ago when almost every artist was singing dance pop songs about going to the club.
Even r&b singers were doing it.
