I got conflicting answers for this. Is "nappy hair" a racist term or not? I'm asking this so I can have a better understanding and relationship with the blacks.
Yes. It's extremely offensive to say depending on the context.
You can describe hair by like "1, 2, 3, 4" and then "a, b, c" subdivisions which is what some people do. But you don't have to, though. You can also describe this as "thick" or "course" hair.
Nappy is just a no-no.
Even outside of the notion of it being "racist," it's just mean.
